Self-Care Elsewhere Virtual Event

Self-Care Elsewhere: A virtual run/walk/ride event to support behavioral wellness and services provided by Nicasa Behavioral Health Services.

Social distancing and isolation are necessary to slow the spread of COVID-19, but it is simultaneously causing stress, anxiety, fear, depression, and overwhelming thoughts of uncertainty. These effects are negatively affecting the safety, health, and well-being of individuals and families served by Nicasa Behavioral Health Services. Similarly, we know our donors and supporters are experiencing their own types of stress and fatigue. So, for everyone in our community we invite you to care for yourself and each other in the Self-Care Elsewhere virtual event!

Self-care is for everyone, not just the individuals and families we serve. August is National Wellness Month and this is a perfect time to practice self-care, stress management, and the promotion of healthy routines. Research has shown that self-care can help manage stress and promote happiness. Small changes, like eating a healthier diet, adjusting your sleep habits, exercising, or meditation, can impact your health in positive ways. Let this event be part of creating wholesome habits within your daily lifestyle!

We invite you to take some time for yourself, or with your family, to enjoy healthy activity that supports not only your own behavioral health during these uncertain times, but also the needs and services of those seeking behavioral health treatment with Nicasa Behavioral Health Services. Please join our family-friendly, virtual run/walk/ride from August 17, 2020 through August 23, 2020 to support Nicasa Behavioral Health Services. During this week you may choose any exercise activity (run, walk, or bike riding) and you can join from here, there, and elsewhere. There will also be a Nicasa Swag Bag prize for the longest distance achieved in each category. You may register here and you will receive a handmade mask (created and donated by @shopkatiemay) to protect yourself and others while you participate, as well as, instructions on how to track steps or miles, submit your results, and connect with us on social media.

As this event can be done from anywhere (and elsewhere), we encourage everyone to take pictures of themselves, family members, furry friends, the start and finish, or your favorite spot and post them to our social media sites with the following hashtags: #active4nicasa #selfcareelsewhere

Facebook: @NicasaBehavioralHealthServices

Your registration will support Nicasa Behavioral Health Services in continuing to provide treatment for substance abuse and mental health to individuals and families throughout Lake County who cannot access services due isolation, loss of employment, lack of insurance, or inability to find culturally competent service offerings.
For any questions or assistance, please contact the Director of Philanthropy, Vicky Tello, at (847)716-1064 or
