A message from DeeDee Johnson:

Hi Friends and Family, I am currently signed up for the Chicago Marathon on October 8th. My teammates and I have been training for months in preparation . As many of you know, my husband Bruce, is the CEO of a behavioral health facility that has 8 sites all throughout Lake County, IL. NICASA provides not only mental health and substance abuse services that includes prevention, education, early intervention , treatment to recovery but also additional behavioral health needs such as anger management, gambling intervention and depression/anxiety issues. They have programs for mothers who are caught in the downward spiral of addiction, abuse and homelessness. They help teens who suffer with the effects of bullying and help them get the skills to make good decisions. To continue to provide these programs to keep people safe and families together, NICASA needs our help. Many of the programs are state funded and unfortunately the State of Illinois is not paying their contractual obligations and programs , staff and clients are suffering. The program I specifically support is their teen court program. Teen court is an alternative to the traditional justice system for first time youth offenders. A real incentive for giving, is that this program has a matching grant opportunity . Any donations will be doubled up to $10,000. Thank you in advance for your donations!
