Each year millions of Americans face the reality of living with a mental illness.

Since 1949, May has been designated as Mental Health Month in the United States.

One in 5 Americans is affected by mental health conditions. Stigma is toxic to their mental health because it creates an environment of shame, fear and silence that prevents many people from seeking help and treatment. The perception of mental illness won’t change unless we act to change it.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) has chosen Cure Stigma as their theme for this year’s campaign.

Mental Health America (MHA) has chosen Fitness#4Mind4Body as their theme this year and will be asking people to take the #4Mind4Body Challenge and join Mental Health America as we challenge ourselves each day to make small changes – both physically and mentally – to create huge gains for our overall health and wellbeing.

Nicasa’s mission is transforming our communities one life at a time through our behavioral and social health services. Nicasa offers a variety of behavioral health services for adults including evaluation and treatment for substance abuse, mental health, gambling, and other behavioral health concerns.

All Nicasa’s Adult Outpatient Services are certified by CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) International, Inc.

Please join us in removing the stigma from mental health conditions and strengthen the connection between a healthy body and healthy mind, not just in May, but EVERY DAY.

Yoga is a great way to exercise your body and quiet your mind.  Yoga has been proven to reduce anxiety and stress.  In our technology-centered lives, it is important for kids to disconnect for a while and yoga is a great way to do that.  Any body of any fitness level can participate in a yoga practice.  Nicasa’s after school program participants were treated to a yoga class by certified yoga instructor Philip Keith.  Many thanks to Mr. Keith and Nicasa staff member Amy Kinzie.

Please join us for a homemade spaghetti dinner and show your support for Bridge House!
