Program Assistant for the Mundelein STAND-UP Task Force

Mundelein STAND-UP Task Force

The Mundelein STAND-UP Task Force envisions a healthy and safe community for our youth. Members work together to prevent and reduce underage drinking and teen marijuana use. The target population is 6th-12th graders who attend Mundelein schools and their parents. Activities are: policy change and promotion, social marketing, alcohol retail compliance checks, parent education, programs in schools and student leadership development. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teen drug prevention in Mundelein and use his/her skills to assist the Task Force, Board of Directors, and staff with completing administrative tasks that advance the work plan and sustainability plan.

Hours and Travel

  • Part-time (15-18 hours/week, 48 weeks) – some evenings and weekends required
  • Days/Hours are flexible, except for required standing meetings typically in Mundelein, which are:
    • Coalition Meeting: 2nd Thursday of the month (8 am – 10:30 am)
    • Leadership Meeting: Either 4th or 5th Thursday of the month (depending on when holidays/breaks fall) 8:30 am – 10 am and 10 am – 11:30 for quarterly board meetings after Leadership meetings
    • Student Meeting- The first and third Thursday from 8:30 am – 9:15 m.
    • MHS Parent Ambassadors Meeting: 2nd Monday evening of the month 7pm-8pm
  • Limited Travel – based on grant requirements, mostly local travel
  • Office is at the Round Lake Nicasa office. Meetings are in Mundelein. Some work can be donE

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required, Associates or Bachelor degree preferred
  • 2-3 years experience in an administrative/supportive role
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug test
  • Knowledge of Mundelein community, including Mundelein school calendars a plus
  • Possess valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • Genuine learner attitude, good listener, curious
  • Passionate about teen drug prevention in Mundelein and Lake County

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to communicate well with community members from a variety of backgrounds, i.e., local officials, students, parents, police, school administration,
  • Strong writing skills in both Spanish and English (preferred)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and G Suite (Google Calendar, Drive, Docs, etc.). Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat Professional, SurveyMonkey and Constant Contact email marketing a
  • Must have knowledge and skills with social media and be able to assist with posts
  • Experience with website maintenance a plus

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records, accounts and files (e-files and hard copies)
  • Represent the Task Force in events and programs
  • Technical support at Task Force events and meetings
  • Translate Task Force marketing materials
  • Assist with communication including electronic emails on Constant Contact and social media posts
  • Document and support the implementation of Task Force activities
  • Assist in planning meeting agendas, attend and record minutes
  • Manage STAND-UP calendar and volunteer hours
  • Support Board of Directors with administrative tasks
  • Support Task Force with program implementation, including setting up for meetings, presentations, and workshop, the Stay Out of My Room Teen Bedroom Display
  • Manage office supplies and order when supplies are low
  • Other duties as assigned

Youth Counselor

Nicasa has an opening for a part-time CADC with experience in and passion for working with youth and families.
Requirements include: CADC, experience working with youth, substance use disorder treatment, and effective collaboration with referral sources. Computer proficiency, excellent written and oral communication skills, and good time-management skills. Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.

Youth Counselor – Bilingual Spanish

Nicasa has an opening for a part-time youth counselor who is a strong team player who is able to work independently. The counselor will work with adolescents and families. This position requires communication and coordination of services with a wide variety of referral sources. The position is 20 hours per week; evenings and Saturdays.

Minimum requirements for candidates include: 2 years experience working with adolescents; proven success in working with extremely problematic youth; LPC or LSW or equivalent. Bilingual/bicultural for the Hispanic population is required.

Adult Counselor – Bilingual Spanish

Nicasa has an opening for a part-time or full-time adult counselor who is a strong team player who is able to work independently. The counselor will work with adult men and women. This position requires communication and coordination of services with a wide variety of referral sources. Hours may include evenings and Saturdays.

Minimum requirements for candidates include: Bilingual/bicultural for the Hispanic population is required.

Gambling Counselor

Nicasa has an opening for a part-time or full-time certified counselor to provide outreach to the community; intervention and treatment to problem gamblers and their families.

Requirements include: Current PCGC credential or meet the qualifications to sit for the exam, CADC with proof of specialized training in gambling disorder, and a passion for working with problem gamblers and their families. Bilingual Spanish/English a plus. Must have basic computer skills and be able to communicate effectively in writing and orally.

Client Services Specialist

Nicasa has an opening for a client services specialist at our Round Lake and Waukegan offices. This position requires a High school diploma or equivalent. At least 1 year of customer service experience. This person must possess good communication skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment. Must have the ability to work independently but also function as a strong team member. Must have excellent computer skills. Bilingual a plus.

Responsibilities include:

  • Greet clients and answer incoming phone calls in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Schedule appointments
  • Gather data from clients for input into database.
  • Scan client files into electronic record.
  • Provide clients with referrals to other community resources that are available.
  • Assist clinical staff in arranging referrals to other professionals, agencies, community programs or other appropriate resources to meet client’s needs.
  • Prepare receipts.
  • Check in clients and collect payments as well as closing out at the end of the day and balancing.
  • Insurance verification.
  • Participate in ongoing supervisions and consultation.
  • Attend staff and training meetings/programs as requested.
  • Adhere to all applicable laws, including HIPAA, relating to protecting client confidentiality.
  • Assist in clarifying and providing information concerning the treatment plan to clients and significant others as needed.
  • Typing and word-processing all client/court correspondence.
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Monthly invoice preparation
  • Administrative activities, i.e. letter writing, typing, filing, data entry and general office work
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

There are several part-time positions available at our Round Lake office Monday-Friday from 8am-12pm and/or 4pm-8pm. Scheduling with hours are flexible.

Bridge House Night Staff

Nicasa has part-time positions available for Night Attendants for the Waukegan Bridge House facility. Overnight hours and weekends. Must be 21 years old and have a high school diploma. Familiar with substance abuse issues a plus.

Duties/Responsibilities include:

• Ability to appropriately respond to any crisis, emergency or trauma which occurs
• Routine inspections of Bridge House for purposes of fire and safety code compliance and other safety violations.
• Responsibility for answering the phones while on duty.
• Maintain a log of all incidents and pertinent activities.
• Regulate curfew hours and conduct bed checks.
• Dispense medication in accordance with Nicasa’s policies.
• Supervise clients during extracurricular activities.
• Attend all staff meetings.
